Divorce

Divorce is a very stressful and emotionally charged, life changing event. Let us at UrbanoLaw empower you through the divorce process. We will work hard to protect your interests, assets, and relationships as we help navigate you through the emotional pain and trauma of divorce.

Child Support

During a divorce or in a custody action between parents with children out of wedlock, child support is the financial obligation a parent has to pay to the other parent on behalf of their child(ren). UrbanoLaw can help evaluate your situation to determine what the appropriate amount of child support should be, regardless of whether you become the recipient or the payor of child support.

Child Custody

Whether you are getting divorced or have children out of wedlock, custody issues arise during the litigation process that can include legal (decision making) and physical custody (including joint and primary custody, as well as parenting time). We recognize that your parent-child relationship is oftentimes paramount. UrbanoLaw will examine the relevant facts of your case and protect your child custody interests.

Even after your divorce is final, substantial or material changes may occur that may require a change to the custody agreement. Let UrbanoLaw guide you through the modification process, whether by an out of court, joint modification or through litigation, if necessary.

If your former spouse or partner is not following the rules of your parenting time or custody agreement, UrbanoLaw can assist you in encouraging them to do so through informal settlements or through a contempt of court action.

Separation Agreements

A comprehensive and well-drafted separation agreement or agreement for judgment can help reduce many post-divorce problems or, in the case of families with out-of-wedlock children, provide similar stability for the future. Let UrbanoLaw work with you to negotiate and prepare a separation agreement or agreement for judgment that addresses your family's unique situation.

Alimony

When spouses get divorced, neither should gain an unfair financial advantage over the other. In 2011, Massachusetts overhauled the statute addressing alimony. These laws provide guidance for parties in determining the duration and the amount of alimony payments, based primarily on the needs of the recipient and the ability to pay by the paying spouse. Let UrbanoLaw advocate zealously to secure the alimony you should receive or limit the alimony you may pay.

Division of Assets and Liabilities

When a marriage is ending, one of the most contentious issues is how to divide up the marital estate, consisting of its assets and liabilities. UrbanoLaw will negotiate on your behalf to secure what should be rightfully yours.

Removal

Do you have custody of your minor children and want to relocate out of state or at a far distance in state from where you currently reside? Will that move be in the best interests of the child or children and do you have a real advantage for relocating? In Probate and Family Court, this is also known as "Removal." Let UrbanoLaw examine the facts of your case and provide advice on the potential for removal, and then negotiate or litigate removal for you.
